Summer Activities for week 2

Sunday - the 6th
*Write a letter today to a someone serving in the armed forces, or a veteran.  This will help us get ready for Flag Day on the 14th.

Monday the 7th -
*Movie Night at the park on Castlegate/Sandwick at 8pm.  We will be watching Karate Kid (the old one).  Bring a blanket or chair to sit on and your own snacks/drinks.

Tuesday the 8th-
*Open Swim at my house from 10-3.  Let's make it clear it is NOT a drop off situation.  You must swim with your children, I have no lifeguards on duty:)

Wednesday  the 9th-
*Super Saguaro Walk at Usery Pass at 8am.  It is about one mile and you can bring the strollers.  Cost is $6.
*Phoenix Art Museum is free from 3-9pm.  www.phxart.org  Get a .69 soda on your way home from QT.

Thursday the 10th -
*Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art is free all day.  www.SMoCA.org
*AJ Library has story time in the morning like 9ish.  www.ajpl.org
*Usery Pass "All About Wildlife" 8am www.maricopa.gov/parks/usery

Friday the 11th -
*Craft Day - How fun would it be to make some pinwheels out of red, white, blue, and flag paper to decorate the neighborhood on Flag Day?  If everyone made 20 pinwheels and put them out in our neighbors yards, we would be like one of those cool Utah and northern AZ towns.  Get together with some friends, they are cheap and easy.  Instructions here.  Make them as simple or as fancy as you want.  Also, consider chopsticks, skewers, pencils, or other things you might have around your house for the sticks to go into the ground.
*Usery Pass Hide and Seek Flashlight Walk 8:30pm.  This sounds like a cheap family date night - get a group together and GO!
*Karate Kid (the new one) comes out today!  Hit a matinee or the drive ins with the family.

Saturday the 11th -
*Get up early and pull weeds for 1/2 hour for a neighbor.
*Usery Pass Looking for Lizards just for kids 8:30am.  I love Usery Pass.

Sunday the 12th -
*At our house, Sunday is a great day to work on your Faith in God, Duty to God, Merit Badges, and Personal Progress.  Kids, cross something off your list today.  Mom and Dad, have you ever volunteered to do some familysearch indexing?  It is fun and easy.  I'm considering using it as a reward for time on the computer, you know, one hour indexing = one hour surfing.  www.familysearch.org and go to indexing for step by step instructions.

Leave me some feedback if you have any other great ideas or suggestions.

Kiwanis wave pool is lots of fun and it is indoors so you don't have to worry about getting a sunburn. Look them up in the phone book. Usually half way through a session you can get in for the last 2 hours for $1.50 for children under 18 and $3 for adults. It's in Tempe, but it is lots of fun.

As annoying as word verification is, it saves your blog from random comments...(soliciting money, jobs or worse). I didn't know there were those kinds of comments out there when I started blogging, and after getting hit a few times I enabled the word verification...and no problems since. (Advice given due to the 3 erased comments on this post).
