What do I do all day?

As "lifesaver" and I worked so hard yesterday at getting the house in good shape, I stopped to wonder if my family wonders what I actually do all day.  "Lifesaver" cleaned both kid bathrooms, vacuumed, and got some mopping done downstairs, whew, I know that was gross.  It took me just about two hours to scrub down the kitchen cupboards and remove all the fingerprints, sticky messes, and drips that accumulate on the wood and I never even got around to oiling them (sounds like a spring break project). So, I actually pointed it out to all of them before dinner lastnight.  I got a thumbs up from Vance and Drew and Ben gave me an enthusiastic, "good job."

I know they recognize when the family room is vacuumed or when the kitchen sink is empty.  They certainly notice when I hand them their laundry basket of clean clothes that laundry got done, but I have to wonder if they are aware of all the other things (that don't get noticed) that I do all day.  I am well aware that I am not alone in this as I have written similar posts before, but I need to write it down again as reassurance to myself that I do work hard at this (sometimes) ungrateful job.  This will just be a rambling, nonsensical list, so bear with me.

I signed permission slips, changed two diapers, washed some dishes, loaded the dishwasher, swept the kitchen, wiped the counter, nursed the baby, wiped some cupboards, changed another diaper, helped Cole and Anny to pick up the toys they weren't playing with, wiped some more cupboards, danced with Cole and Anny and then made them a snack.  By this time, it was 10am.   You get the point.  I also wiped out the silverware sorter in the drawer, and finished scrubbing the cupboards.  I moved loads and loads of laundry, sorted it all, and folded Anny and Derek's clothes.  I removed all the fingerprints from the sliding glass door, and swept the floor again.  I must have nursed Derek 10 times (or so it seemed) and changed at least 4 poop filled diapers, not to mention the plain old wet ones.  I fed lunch and dinner to my family, and I made sure the calendar was updated with all of their activities.  I constantly picked up toys as I walked through the family room, I listened to my kids as they told me about their day, and I laughed with them for a few minutes while we watched stupid videos and pictures on the computer.  I hugged Drew and adjusted the temperature on the water heater out in the garage.  I read my scriptures and I blogged (journal).

What did you do today that maybe nobody noticed, but still took up some of your time.

I posted on Facebook all of my unnoticed activities. If I can't get praise at home for them, then I will take the praise from my friends who are walking down similar roads. It was a day like yesterday that really made me appreciate good friends who just know...

Some of the things I did today that no one "seems" to really notice would be:
*took out meat to cook for Todds lunch to work tomorrow.. coked it and put it into tupperware for him...
*called doctor and set appt for him, left him a note about when it is...
*emailed baseball coach to notify griff is going on scout activity instead of sat practice
*packed up more books to go back into storage
*spent like 3 hours going over math work that niether kid understood until it was all done and understood...
*fixed brees hair after she decided to trim her own bangs with the safety scissors while doing above math...

Im gonna stop now... because I know you understand... =)

Shoot. I am sitting here trying to think but today I didn't do anything....
I drove to the school to pick Alex up so he didn't have to walk home?
Um....I made egg salad for dinner but no one noticed because they didn't eat it.
I am at a loss.

I didn't do anything for anybody today. :( In fact, everybody has been doing everything for me this week.

I love your list of random stuff. you are totally right. We do so much that doesn't get noticed, even I wonder what I did at the end of the day. I need to be better at commenting on other people's blogs....since I love when you comment on mine. Thanks!!

Today: nursed the baby about a kazillion tims...alright, maybe just 6. Sat down and fed her cereal twice (morning and evening). Made lunch. Invited 3 different friends over to play with my kids and I got to read a book. Emailed clients. returned phone calls. assigned chores and double checked when completed....oh yeah, and I blogged.
