I don't get on the computer much on the weekend, so here is my recap of gratefulness:
Saturday - I'm grateful for having things to keep our family busy on the weekend instead of sitting around watching t.v.
Vance and Marly went on an overnighter with their respective youth groups. They went near Tucson and did some spelunking. They had a great time with their friends and leaders. They camped far from each other, but had breakfast together and did their hiking together. They left at 4 on Friday afternoon and got home about 2pm on Saturday.
Ben woke up at 5:30 and took the two little boys (Drew and Sky) to football with him. I don't have the energy anymore to sit in the bleachers and fight Anny for 4 hours so we don't go much anymore unless I have help.
The two little girls were invited to spend the night at Grams (my grandma) with their cousins. While I feel badly that Tawny started throwing up at 3am, I'm happy that my Grams was very kind and sweet as she cared for her.
That left Anny and I. We woke up late, read some books, tried to clean the kitchen, took a cat nap, then went to pick up the girls around lunchtime. We visited with Grams for an hour before we headed to Amazing Jake's (I loathe that place) for their football/cheer team party. Tawny, Anny, and I only stayed for the awards ceremony and then went home. Vance drove over there and stayed with Katy while she played (she and Tawny got in free so I gave Tawny's bracelet to Vance so it cost me nothing.)
I had a quiet evening with the three little girls while Vance and Marly went to Vance's band concert (his garage band) and Ben was in Phoenix watching Skylar's football game with Drew. We ate some root beer floats and went to bed, it was a long day.
Sunday - I am grateful that I am not a pioneer, pregnant with her 8th kid or more.
I just finished reading A Banner Is Unfurled, volumes 1-3. It is the fictional history of the Ezekiel and Julia Hills Johnson family as they begin their journey with Joseph Smith and the restored gospel in the early 1800's. Ben is a direct descendant of their oldest son Joel Hills Johnson. His wife's name was Anna Pixley, whom our Anny is named after. They also have a son named Sixtus, whom Drew Sixtus was named after. Anyway, Julia and Ezekiel were the parents of 16 children, I think she had her last one at the age of 48. I think I'm dying on #8 and I'm only 38 years old, I have barely anything to complain of. Anyway, it is a wonderful story and while I think I sometimes have the strength to accomplish so much, I know I was meant to be born in the time I was born in, full of comforts and computers.
