Gratefulness Catchup

Grandma Whetten and Anny at the State XC meet.

Saturday - Vance ran in his state Cross Country Meet and it about wiped me out, so I didn't even get on the computer that evening. Then, we went to a baptism, and by the time I got home, I was spent. Saturday, I was grateful for parental support, and now being the parental support for my kids. When I was a girl, participating on the track team, church basketball, choir, orchestra, drama, whatever, my parents were there to support me. I doubt they missed one event, wether they were both there or just one. My teammates even called my dad Coach Whetten. I notice when I am at the meets, games, performances, etc. (one of us is almost always there), how many kids are there without any parental support. I do my best to be what my parents were to me and my friends who didn't have what I had. My mom drove all the way to Cave Creek with me so we could watch Vance run. What a thrill to have her or my dad there with me for the last few Saturday meets while Ben has been with the younger kids at football. Who knows how long Coach Whetten will be around, I'm glad to spend time with him and my mom.

Sunday - Grateful for extended family. Joe and Allison blessed Baby Tyler in sacrament meeting yesterday. What a joy to have 3-4 full benches of just Whetten/Simmons family there to support. We'll get together again next month for Matt and Candice to bless their baby, then with Thanksgiving and Christmas, I hope by the time we bless our new baby, we won't be tired of family dinners together (this is a joke.) I do enjoy being together with my family, but we are getting so large, the noise level is also intensifying:)

Monday - Today I am grateful for...sleep. I would say I am much more appreciative of sleep when I am at a stage when sleep alludes me much of the time. So, while I'm not sleeping well lately, the nights I do sleep, I am particularly grateful for. I slept 5 straight hours on Saturday night (I was so worn out) and then lastnight, I slept for 4 hours in bed and then another 3 hours on the couch - peacefully. I even remember dreaming, which means I slept soundly. I can't wait for this baby to get here so I can actually get some solid rest. My babies are all good sleepers (I hope I didn't just jinx myself.) I sleep very well because I am comfortable again.
