Birthday Bash 2009

Here is the story of one of the top 10 best days of my whole life. This Ben as he is driving Vance to the airport. Funny story about that. We thought Vance's flight to Utah was at 4 or 5 pm. Grandpa Johnson called to ask what time he needed picked up from the airport and what his flight number was. Luckily he did too, cause by the time we got done with opening birthday presents in bed (they let me sleep till 8), we had 2 1/2 hours to get him to the airport and he still hadn't started packing!! We made it in plenty of time and wanted to walk him to the gate, but there was so much birthday partying to do, we weren't sure we had time (jk), so we dropped him at the curb. I'm so glad he didn't check a bag and we had already printed his boarding pass. I'm glad he's smart enough to find the gate all by himself and get through security. Whew. Off to Denny's.

For my free Grand Slam Breakfast that is. I found out that there were no substitutions, so Ben ate my pancakes and I ordered a side of biscuits and gravy. Ben told me I was worth the $2.69 he had to pay. Side note to remember: Ben and I decided we would learn to make biscuits and gravy for the BBB along with eggs benedict. Note to Ben, don't forget that I LOVE biscuits and gravy now way more than waffles with berries and whipped cream.

At the conclusion of our breakfast, we stopped at Krispy Kreme and got my free dozen donuts for dessert. Let's make it known right now that we took them home to share with the kids. I am a loyal Dunkin Donuts' kreme filled powdered sugar donut fan, through and through.

From there, Ben dropped me off at the nail salon so I could get a pedi and mani. Dark red, of course. I wish I had a picture, but I don't. Let's just say this present was for Ben too, cause I had to shave my legs to get the pedi. Woo Hoo! It was about time.

We then went home and did my favorite thing: We cleaned the house!! I love it when everyone pitches in cause then I found time to sit and blog stalk for about an hour. I organized some pictures to send to SIL and vegged on the couch till it was time to get ready to go on our next date.

So, this is the card my mom and dad got me. They gave it to me when we picked them up to go out. My parents are so cool, I chose to go out with them for my birthday! I love them.

Can you possibly guess where we went to dinner? No, not Dunkin. SUSHI!! LOVE IT!! My Sakana was closed (they know me there) so we hit up Ra. It is a little too loud there for me, but super yummy. They have an excellent happy hour and they carry pepsi products. What more can I ask for?

Mom and Dad aren't huge fans of sushi, but they were sweet. Dad actually really enjoyed one of the rolls, I wish I could remember what it was called. We always try a new roll along with safe ones that we know we like. I will be ordering that one again once I think of the name. Thanks for indulging me guys.

Ben isn't a huge fan of it and won't eat it as often as I will, but I am the same with Mexican food for him. Anyway, here is a pic of us at Ra, enjoying each other's company.

And then...drumroll please...

I thought I might have been the only person who wasn't going to go see this,

but I scored tickets a few days prior...

Can you tell how excited I am that I got front row tickets to

WICKED!!

It wasn't so much that I couldn't go, it was more that I was afraid to spend that kind of money on myself. If you know me, you know that I am pretty stingy with spending money frivously on myself. But, I adore musicals, especially good ones. I haven't been to one since Ben was on his mission and we went to Phantom of the Opera in LA with my parents. Boy, that was a long wait. I hope I don't have to wait that long again to see another show. I even cried at the curtain went up because I was so happy to be there. I then cried when it was over cause I didn't want it to end. Yes, I am pregnant. I am aware that I am emotional. But it was seriously awesome.

I am totally ready now to see Little House on the Prairie: A Musical, which will be playing in December. (You, my loyal fans, know of my addiction to my Little House). Many thanks to my whole family who made this fabulous day possible. Thanks to my kids for letting me ignore them pretty much the whole day. Thanks to mom and dad for enjoying the evening with us and enduring my fettish with raw fish, but most especially thanks to Marge for giving up her opportunity to see the show with my parents, and selling me her tickets. And, most of all, thanks to Ben, you are the love of my life. I can't get enough of you and how good you are to this psycho woman who has convinced you that the more kids we have, the happier we get. I am rarely wrong, remember that.

It seriously was one of the top 10 best days of my whole life.

I'm glad your day was so awesome. You deserve it! We went to see Wicked a couple of weeks ago and the lady sitting next to my dad had a gigantic duffle bag full of candy, chips, soda, etc. My dad said, "I kept waiting for her to pull out a chicken dinner." I think my dad was gonna lose it if he had to hear one more wrapper crinkle.

I love Little House too. We've been renting it watching it every night after dinner as our little summer tradition. I wonder if the musical will be any good? Anyway, glad you had a great b-day and got to go see Wicked. Musicals are so much fun!
