A Funny story about Jeff and Ben and Anny

Jeff is our good friend that we met the first year we moved here from Tucson. He was Vance's Pop Warner football coach. He is now a coach with Ben for Drew and Skylar's team. He is head of security at Queen Creek High School, and although he looks like a bear, he is one of the most gentle and kind men I know. He and his wife Darcey have become really good friends and all of our kids are good friends too so it is fun to hang out with them. Well, even though Darcey hasn't come to see my sweet baby Anny, Jeff and his boys did and I though this was a cute picture.
So here is the funny story, how I heard it. It is better if you know Jeff, but still quite funny. Drew and Skylar were spending the night at their house shortly after Anny's birth and Drew made a comment about how Ben was going to make Anny be a lefty all star softball pitcher when she grew up. Jeff, not knowing about Anny not having fingers on her right hand, started going on about how mean Ben was. "I can't believe your dad," he says, "what's he going to do? Tie her right hand behind her back so she can't use it? I always thought your dad was pretty fair, but that just isn't right!" He kept going on like this and Darcey, who knew about Anny's hand, kept telling him to knock it off. My boys didn't really get what was going on cause they thought Jeff knew. Darcey couldn't get him to shut up so she finally took him into the kitchen and explained to him that most likely Anny would be left handed because of her missing fingers. Jeff about died and immediately called Ben and chewed him out for not telling him. Ben got a good laugh about it as did I. I asked him about it that night, and he was still pretty embarrassed about the whole thing.
