Relay for Life 2008

We participated in the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life cancer walk at Red Mt. High School this weekend. I'm still tired, don't even know how I have the energy to post this, but wanted to get it out of my way.

Ben went over around noon and got our camp all set up. I coached Katy's team and then went to Sky's game while Marly was at hers with the Chapmans. We joined the Hornet team at the relay around 6:30pm Saturday evening. Our team organizes a flag football tournament to raise money during the relay. This year, the Hornets fell short of their goal, but were able to raise just over $750 to help cure cancer. We always take the whole family, along with Bo and Jordan Chapman. This year, we were joined by the Mendoza, Ballard, Guercio, Karim, Whiting, and Nugent families from the Hornets football team. We spent the night, with some sleeping more than others. Becuase it goes over to Sunday morning, I forced myself to get just over 4 hours, Drew, Skylar, and Ben got about 3 hours, Katy and Tawny slept most of the night, and Marly and Vance didn't close their eyes at all. My dad is our "survivor" as he is 4 years or so, prostate cancer free. Yeah! We're always so glad he and mom join us. This time, Candice, Matt, and Brittany came too at least for a little while. The relay is like a party to celebrate our fundraising efforts and we always have a great time. I didn't get too many pics, but here is a few. I've got to close my eyes now as they are BURNING!! Now you know why I was such a scatter brain at church and why I couldn't stay awake during sacrament meeting:)

I love how we never know about this kind of stuff.

It was really a Hornets thing. Matt and Candice found out cause they were looking for someone to watch a movie that night and mom and dad were the first ones they called. Brittany knew cause she lives there. Dad thought it might be fun to have a Whetten team next year. We'd have to figure out how to fundraise.
