DeAnna was right

She told me that canning was an addiction or an obsession of hers a few weeks ago when she did peaches. She was right. I got Utah tomatos last week - two boxes. They sat in the kitchen on thursday, then Friday I still didn't have time to do anything with them. Of course Saturday was no better. I finally checked them on Saturday night and decided I'd already lost too many, I needed to get on the ball and bottle them right then. I started about 7pm and when I finally got them in the bottles and into the water to process, I realized that I forgot to put lemon juice in them. I called Grams and she said I ought to stop the processing and put the lemon juice in cause it was important. I finally went to bed at 10pm or so, proud of my little undertaking. the problem is that I only bottled 8 quarts. Not enough for all the effort I just went through, I say. If I had grown my own tomatoes, that would definitely change my opinion. Now I've done peaches, pears, apples and applesauce, and tomatoes. This is all the boiling water method, I think I'm ready to move on to the pressure canner...Or, my backyard garden. The weeds need pulled, planters placed, water system figured out...I just got my nails done today so I guess that is a project for another day.

It is so addicting. I am even doing my neighbor's stuff now.... I am either really nice or really crazy. now that it is getting cooler I want to get my garden in, too. Are you doing square foot? I have never done it that way..... yes, your nails are much to pretty and red to get dirty...wait at least a week!

I want to do the square foot, but I really have to get the weeds out of the backyard first. This may never happen.
