Cheerleaders after my own heart

Football season is in high gear around here. Of course, this year we have more cheerleaders than we do football players. This is Katy at her first scrimmage game for her Pop Warner Knights team. She is getting really good at her high kicks and toe touch jumps. She is a leader on her team as she is the oldest. She is a good friend to Tawny and Merrek, who are also on the Knights team.
Tawny loves being a cheerleader as long as her feet don't hurt from her shoes. She has had a hard time the last few weeks with having practice every night cause she is a sleepy girl and going to bed at 9 has been hard on her. She does her jumps exactly as she has been taught 5,6,7,8,1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8, she counts and gets those little feet nearly 3 inches off the ground. Too cute for words, really.

Here is Miss Merrek, our cousin, who gets to be on the team too. She was pretty shy in the beginning, but is coming out of her shell quickly. She is fantastic at her stiff movements, she is like a varsity cheerleader in a 6 year old body.

Last night was Combs High School's first JV game. Marly made the JV cheer squad as a freshman and is co-captain. I would say there were a few rough patches during the first half and a lot of standing around (something Johnson's don't do well). She was pretty upset when she got home that things didn't go exactly as she thought they would, but who cares, she was AWESOME!!! Her dad and I both mentioned how grown up she looked. Mature too. I still can't believe my own girl is a cheerleader, let alone an honor student, cross country runner, gets up for early morning seminary and still has time for social activities on the weekend. I'm tired thinking about it.

One last look at our beautiful cheerleader!!
Our boys can only be successful with these four girls cheering for them.

I miss cheerleading, did it for 6+ years! Those little girls are too cute. I was a cheerleader at 5 and all I did was run on and off the field. Tell Marly congrats...she looks great!!

Wish Elle could be on the same pop-warner team your girls are on. That would be so much fun!
I'll have to show Elle the pictures of Marly, she'll be so impressed!
