ASU - I truly am a Devil

So, I decided to be a go-getter and take 3 classes this semester, in preparation for having a toddler and a new baby for the spring semester when I may only take one. At the rate I'm going, I'm scheduled to graduate in 2012, phewy, it makes me sick.

Anyway, I can already tell that I'm in over my head. My math 142 class is the last class I need to take in math in order to graduate. Do you know what I started with back in 1989? Mat 055, yessirree folks, then 077 before I got to the Mat 121 or whatever it was called that would finally count for something. Have I told you that math isn't my strong point? Anyway, as I read through the first section called Rates of Change, I decided that if I can just get a C in the class, I'll be happy. If I get a D, I won't be mad, just glad it is over. Funny thing...Vance is taking a dual enrollment class and it is Mat 142 just like me!! This means we can help each other. This embarrasses him at the moment, just like every comment I make on his FB status.

PHS 208 is a science class. My advisor helped me pick it because she said it was easy. I totally support that. I'm not wanting to teach science anyway, I want to be a writer. This class is all about teaching science to K-12 grade students. I figure we'll do some fun experiments as a family. Thanks to Kat Burley for picking up my books for this class at the main campus while she was there getting her own books. She's my hero.

ASB 353 is my other class. Death and Dying is the subject matter and boy did I not want to take it. But, I had a few people tell me they enjoyed what they learned, and that it was interesting. I get to interview someone at a funeral home - I've never done that before, so I may learn some stuff. How sad that I start this class the same week that the little Allen girl passes away. I'm so grateful for my eternal perspective on the life after this one.

So, no fun writing classes for me this semester, darnit, that's what I love. Next semester will be better. I saved the fun stuff for when I need a break from two small children vying for my attention.

Hip Hip Hooray for all my ASU buddies (even though we will never see each other) who started ASU this week too...Kat, Tracy, and Charlene. Props to my other college buddies...Jana and Julie. I probably missed someone, but only cause it is late and my brain is fried.

School is hard enough without kids, a husband, and a life, so I admire all of you ladies going back to get it done.

Wow, you are making me want to go back to school. So is this a Master's degree you are getting or what? Are you doing most of your classes online or do you have to go to a campus? I'm super impressed with you. Good luck.

You are doing awesome Stacy. It is hard with everything you've got going on. Been there, but it is soooooooo worth it! What a great accomplishment when you are done. Stick with it!

Are you taking Death and Dying from Bob Fern? I LOVED his class. His class is what got me into my degree, it totally changed my direction.

You can do it! It took me ten years to get 2 Associate Degrees. I loved the brain-stretch and the books that didn't speak in rhyme! Good luck!

Good for you! oh boy do I relate with the math! I took the lowest math class I could take in order to get my degree, Mat 121 or something like that. I'm glad they didn't make me take college algebra. Even Dallin is doing harder math in 6th grade right now than I can do... sad!

Good for you to be finishing school! (even if it does take a few years - at least you're working on it!)I have my associates degree (got it 7 years ago) and I really want to finish someday, I'm just not sure when that is going to happen. I am so impressed that you can have a large family, do so much in our community and church, and still take classes too! You are an amazing woman!

FYI, find out what books you need and buy them online. half.com is a good site. You seriously will get them for half off.
