Today is a hard day for me. You notice in the last post all the growing up pictures of my little boy? The first one? Today is the first day of his senior year in high school. He spent the last week before school at BYU for a cross country camp and now his heart is set on Provo, Utah. While I am happy for him, my heart hurts today because this year will be full of lasts...last first day of school, last high school cross country and track season, last "last day of school dinner" at Big Apple, etc. Please bear with me as I shed a few tears this year getting ready for the inevitable. I love this boy, but it is hard to watch him grow up. Something happened to him this summer and I wish I could pinpoint it. It might have something to do with a sweet girl, but it might have something to do with a great Aaronic Priesthood Encampment he went to this summer. He seems more mature, he is helping out more, he is more polite, just more everything that is good. This makes it especially hard but especially sweet too.
At one of Drew's all star games June 2009.
Vance hates getting his picture taken and sometimes being the oldest of all the grandkids makes it worse. He was trying to be patient Christmas 2008.
Vance had the sweet privelege of baptizing Katy this last January when she turned 8. We are so glad he is a worthy priesthood holder.
He has big goals for his last high school cross country season. He is chasing a scholarship. No more kids wearing the QCHS uniform after this year.

*sniff sniff* you're making us all cry. He is a great kid and I hope my boys turn out as awesome as he is :)
I've already started crying over the THOUGHT of Canon going on a mission, so please don't get me started about little boys growing up. You're blessed to have such a great "little boy."
That was a tender post. Especially having a new baby this year, it's like full circle. Are the kids not going to QCHS anymore?
Seriously! Why do you do this to us?! I'm crying and my oldest "baby" is only going into 2nd grade! :)
I think every mother in the world understands what you are going through. My little brother just started his Senior Year and my mom is having a hard time as well (and it is her 6th kid to graduate with 2 more to go!)
Vance is a great kid and I think a good example to every young boy in our ward! That is props to you for being a great mom!
OH, Stacy it does go by so fast. Now you're making me cry... Thanks!
My 2nd baby started all day Kinder today and it's been a little hard. It's hard to see them grow up. Our lifes work is mostly to be a mom, and when those little munchkins don't need us so much any more, it's tuff.
*HUGS*
I hear ya. I cried when Rex turned 4 because to me, that meant he wasn't a baby anymore. Girls are just as wonderful but there's something about boys that melts their momma's hearts.
Ya, I told a patient of mine to keep an eye on him this year since they go to the same scool and give me the scoop on all the bad stuff he does. Don't let that innocent face deceive you Stacy! :) He is a stud though.
They grow up so fast!! He is a great kid who will do great things. Plus then you'll have a reason to come up and visit if he goes to BYU!!
