Relay for Life Cancer Walk

OK, so our football association has been involved in the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life for the last few years. This year, since we are now a Queen Creek Association, we moved our Hornets team out here. We want to provide a way for kids to know that life isn't about just sports, or ourselves, it is much bigger. Our theme this year was Playing Football Winning Life, pretty cool, huh? It was a bit smaller out here, but equally fun and enjoyable. I am proud to support cancer research and this is why: I never want my children and grandchildren to worry about me or Ben trying to survive cancer the way my family has had to watch and worry about my parents. Every year our team has had my dad as our survivor and this year, we were equally proud (and sad at the same time) to add an additional survivor to our team this year...my mom. She was so happy (not) to wear purple this year for the team. We were just shy this year of our goal, but are confident that next year, we will make up for it. Here are some pics from our fun overnighter at Boy's Ranch who hosted the event.

Hope for a cure!!

There was a lot of hanging out and playing football all evening, the boys loved it. Being a smaller venue, there was so much more room to hang out and throw the ball around, something our football players LOVED!!
There was a lot of sitting around, but the weather was beautiful.

There was someone on the track all evening long. We signed up for 1/2 hour shifts, and there were usually 2-3 or more walking at a time.

Jeff is looking a little sleepy!!

Anny was a trooper, she slept for about four hours and then wanted to be part of the action!

See you next year!!
