I know you think I'm not CRAFTY!!

So, you know in the movie "Say Anything" when the guys are all sitting on the ground behind the Gas-n-Sip on a Saturday night? and John Cusack is getting chick advice from them? OK, just setting the scene before John Cusack says "If you guys know so much about women, then why are you sitting behind the gas-n-sip on a Saturday night?" There is considerable silence then one of them answers, "CHOICE, Man, CHOICE!" Well, that describes me perfectly when it comes to being crafty. In the last few years I have not participated in things because I have been deemed "uncrafty." Well, I want you to know that it is "Choice, man, CHOICE!" I have plenty of crafting skills, I just don't choose to pursue them at this point. I can make cards, I can paint cute faux brick walls, I can hang curtains, I can CRAFT, dangit!! I just choose sports and school, and sleep over all else most of the time. Having said that, I do choose my Christmas tree over working on my homework for finals this last week. This is what I did:
I made these lovely icicles last year just before Christmas so I didn't get to enjoy them as much as I am this year. Some are about 7 inches long and some are just 3 inches, but they are all beautiful to me.

For RS last year, we made miniature copper stars and I loved them (my hands hurt for a week after that). I loved them so much that I made giant ones for my own tree.
I also am known for hating to shop. Thanks to Brittany for shopping with me last year right after Christmas, we found these giant balls (I mean giant!) for this year. There are 9 red and 9 gold ones. So, I do like to shop sometimes.
Because I like my red and gold tree to myself, I let the kids decorate the banister with all the kid ornaments and ornaments I got from exchanges (that would be in a different ward when I felt more crafty). Because of my school this fall keeping me out of the Christmas spirit for so long, Marly and the girls did it themselves, so the ribbon is missing, the pearls, the toole, etc. It looks pretty good though.
But below is the real reason I don't like to be too crafty - I hate cleaning up the mess. This is what it looked like on Saturday night and I had choir the next morning at my house. Thanks kids for helping me put it back together.

I love that you used a "Say Anything" reference. Now I know you're awesome. Or Nerdy. I'm not sure which but I like it.

Amen to that whole crafty business. It's expensive and time consuming and messy. I like crafts. I think they're cute and admire crafty people, but I choose to direct my perfectionist tendencies in a different direction.

Oh I am so with you. I can be plenty crafty if I want to be, and I have a whole bunch of craft supplies that I haven't touched in a long time because I just don't have the motivation to clean it all up!

There is nothing wrong with hiding your craftyness. I do it all the time:) ha ha Love the Say Anything references! They don't make movies like that anymore:(
